Play Type: Pass Protection
You must have good teamwork and technique for successful pass protection. This drill teaches linemen the cupping shape to create a pocket and protect the quarterback.
Coach sets up in the QB position with offensive linemen in front of him, on the line of scrimmage.
- Coach calls Hut and the ball is snapped
- The linemen fire out, then form a cupping shape to create a pocket and protect the QB
- Linemen continue to chop feet and punch with the hands until Coach signals the end of the drill
Emphasize quick chopping feet, while maintaining a low center of gravity.
